NEWDIGS Exutive Director Gigi Hirsch and Director of Research Kay Larholt were invited to participate in the National Academies of Science’s Envisioning a Transformed Clinical Trials Enterprise for 2030. This workshop is being convened by the Forum on Drug Discovery, Development and Translation as a series of four virtual webinars to discuss progress and setbacks for the clinical trials enterprise over the last 10 years. Workshop discussions will broadly consider how an envisioned 2030 clinical trials enterprise might differ from the current system; and allow stakeholders to discuss practical short- and long-term goals for designing and supporting a clinical trials enterprise that is more efficient, person-centered, and integrated with healthcare delivery. Each webinar session will consider changes made in response to COVID-19 that may be generalizable for other therapeutic areas, and consider specific next steps that stakeholders could take to implement changes going forward.
